Even though I’ve knitted cotton yarns for kitchen wash cloths, this is the first time I’ve knitted with organic cotton yarn. And the yarn feels incredible! It’s soft and so easy to knit, even much better than the bamboo blend yarn.
This one is made by Lion Brand, which is an American family-owned and operated business and brand since 1878.
Here’s more info from Lion Brand:
“Nature’s Choice is grown and spun without the use of pesticides, herbicides or other chemicals. The dyes used to create our beautiful colors are certified according to the Global Organic Textile Standard by the Institute of Marketecology.
Nature’s Choice is a soft, versatile yarn that’s so easy to work with and perfect for everything from baby blankets to fashion items. It’s good for your knitting and good for the planet.”
I used this yarn to make a small cable knit neck warmer. I finally got the hang of knitting cables (the twist on the design) without using cable needles. A bit tricky at first, but more hassle free. It seem cotton yarn are the best for knitting cable design as it highlights the detail real nice.
The color is “walnut” and looks like light brown. This neck warmer is nice for west coast weather as it doesn’t get too cold here. Otherwise I’ll have to knit up a thicker and longer version.

Note: I am still a beginning knitter and am so happy to come across this wonderful yarn at this stage. I got this yarn at Micheal’s selling at $7.99, a bit more expensive then other yarns. But with the 40% off coupon, it wasn’t too bad.

That’s a nice design, I never knew there is a neck warmer after living up north for so many years. Perhaps it’s more fashionable in the west coast.

Hi Nye,
Thanks! I saw a cashmere neck warmer at Banana Republic for $76 and thought I can knit my own (just need the cashmere yarn!) Actually I’ve only seen a few people wear neck warmers out West. I just like that it’s easy to knit and wear.
Hi Jess,
Your welcome! I do love the organic yarn, it’s such good stuff all around. I’ll have to stop by the LBY online shop while the spring free shipping is still on.

@joyce, sorry I don’t have a pattern for the neckwarmer. I just knitted as I went along. It’s mostly design with cable and rib knits. Thanks for the visit!
