Kasey Chambers - Nothing at All

One of my favorite singers from Australia is Casey Chambers. I don’t think she’s well known in the U.S., but I’m sure her songs are played more often in her home country. It would be neat to see her sing in a small venue in the U.S. So here’s some of my favorite songs.

Since I’m not a big fan of music videos, I don’t pay too much attention to it. I prefer to listen to music on my own time and create memories without the help of videos.

If you were lucky enough to be in Australia, Kasey Chambers did give a live show at Wilson’s Boathouse Seafood Restaurant in Brisbane. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a picture of her, maybe about 5 years ago. But here she is, sitting pretty with her guitar from the Brisbane charity performance in May of 2008.

One was the light in a candle
Two was the colour of the rain
Three was a fall in deeper
Four was a cry and shame
Five was a shiver in the winter
Six was a losing card
Seven was the hope I would never fall too hard

One was a breath under water
Two was a crash and burn
Three was a ghost of the lover
Four was a lot to learn
Five was the livin’ in a cradle
Six was a mercy cry
Seven was the hope you would never say goodbye

You win
I lose
You leave with nothin’ to prove
You rise, I fall
I leave with nothing
Nothing at all

One was a faith in a sorrow
Two was a waste of a dream
Three was a life in a bottle
Four was the last to believe
Five was a break in the weather
Six was back to the start
Seven was the hope it would never go this far

I was your waste time
You were my angel wing
I was your falling star
You were my everything

Nothing at all, Nothing at all
Nothing at all, Nothing at all

by K. Chambers

sometimes I feel as though I did
And I don’t have answers for every single question
But that’s OK ‘cos I’m just a kid

Well I’ve seen pictures of my mother
When she looked exactly like me
And I’ve seen all my friends running for cover
Running from something they can’t see

And it’s not easy to get handle on my life
but I have tried it time and time again

But I still cry just like a baby
And I answer back to feel a little free
And I still fly even though I’m gonna fall
But I’m too far to let it get to me

Well I’m not much like my generation
Their music only hurts my ears
And I don’t hide my pain to save my reputation
It’s too hard to keep up with these years

And it’s not easy to make a habit disappear
But I have tried it time and time again

I first discovered Kasey Chambers late one night nearly ten years ago on the television program Austin City Limits. She performed “The Captain”, and I was online ordering the CD before the song was over. Then, perhaps three years ago I had the pleasure of seeing her live in Salt Lake City at a botanical garden amphitheater where she brought down the house. This wonderful lady is a treasure. She is beautiful and talented and she owns my heart. It is my sincere hope that she one day achieves the international acclaim she deserves. But if not, it does not matter. I will cherish and celebrate her talent until my dying day.

  2. Hi Cawoonache,
That is one of my favorite songs from Casey. That venue sounds great, in a botanical garden setting too.

Someone had mention to me she sounds like Dolly Parton, in a good way of course. Thanks for your comment. :)
