It’s been on the curing rack for 3 weeks now. And I finally got to use this soap. I love the natural smell of almond and the slight hint of floral beeswax and honey too.
That’s a jar of German cream honey. I didn’t use it, but had the jar around while I took this photo. I actually used local honey from Northern California.
This is the same batch from the Loofah bars I made, except I added almond meal to this one. The almond meal gives off a nice brown (tan) color and a stronger scent of almond too. I cut them in small hand size pieces.
Cambree’s Honey & Almond soap recipe for 2 lb batch:
Cambree’s Honey & Almond soap recipe for 2 lb batch: Rice Bran oil 12 oz
Olive oil 8 oz
Safflower oil 8 oz
Sunflower oil 4 oz
Lye 4.06 oz
Distilled water 10 oz
For the additives: 3 tbsp of almond meal, 1 oz of honey and some shavings of pure beeswax.
No synthetic fragrance or dyes in this hand cut soap. There isn’t too much bubbles with this soap. So for the bubble lovers this will be disappointing! Next time around I will add palm or coconut oil for some nice bubbly later.
In the shower, the soap releases brown flecks of almond skin but not almond meal powder. It must have integrated very well with the soap mixture. I did feel a little exfoliation, which is great as I could use this as a facial bar maybe once a week. Overall it was a nice and gentle bar that left my skin moisturized and clean.
Update 8/23/09: I’ve only used this soap for a couple of days and want to be sure it’s holding up well. The scent has seem to fade, but you can smell a little bit of almond in there. So far, the bubbles are minimal but the moisturizing qualities are all there!

This made me think of the Dove Exfoliating Bar that I had tried, it felt kind of scratchy, but the Dove one has a strong soapy aroma that I didn’t like. I like your ingredients, it must smell really nice. Only if we could smell it from our computer.

The scent has seem to fade from a couple of use.
I think my soaps may seem too “rustic” or natural for some people. Maybe I should start experimenting with more scents again. Since they are all cosmetic grade and safe to use fragrance oil.
Btw, I will send you some of my soap samples soon. Just waiting to see how the other batches are working out.

Thanks, I’m looking forward to giving it a try.
