The German news magazine show DW, which is broadcast in English, is one of my favorite shows. I don’t really catch it too often, but am happy to find they have a channel on Youtube.
This series is from the “Great Gardens of Europe.”
The Loire Valley is also known as the Garden of France. The valley is filled with world-famous castles (chateau) and beautiful botanical gardens too.
Chateau Villandry was completed toward 1536 and was the last of the large chateaus built in the Loire Valley during the Renaissance. Balloon ride over the geometric garden would be amazing. Image source.
The misty garden of Chateau Villandry, looks like a nice place for a walk. You can take a virtual tour here.
“The Loire Valley was made a UNESCO world heritage site in 2000. We report on two examples, the Gardens of Villandry and Chateau Rivau. Known for their strictly geometric settings, romantic rose gardens and medieval plantation and innovative landscaping, Villandry and Chateau Rivau are two classic examples of the renaissance garden design.” - DW
Below are the Youtube links (click on country) from 3 of my favorite gardens of DW series “Great Garden of Europe.”
Loire Valley, . As seen from the previous two photos. Lovely places.
Sissinghurst, : The area was developed in the 1930s by the English writer Vita Sackville-West and her husband Harold Nicolson. Overcast weather, plenty of roses, garden design with different rooms and themes. Most popular is the white room garden filled with all white flowers. Located north of Brighton, England.
Mainau Island, Germany. Photo from EscortedCoachTours.co.uk
Mainau Island, :It’s located in Lake Constance in Germany and a very idyllic place. The count’s family lives here but the garden is open to the public.
“The flower paradise of Mainau Island is the best-known excursion destination in the region. In summer, the magnificent park and gardens around the baroque family residence of Count Bernadotte attract visitors in their hordes - this sea of tropical blossom made up of 500,000 flowers is replanted every year.” -Destination Germany

The maze garden looks so inviting, only if they’ve one at Biltmore, it would look so perfect there, definitely a one stop place for me.
I like your autumn/winter falling leaves, rain and snow, must be like that in your part of town.

Hi Nye,
From some other photos I saw, the maze garden becomes a summer veggie garden too.
Of course, you are so lucky to live so close to the Biltmore. That place is still on my list of places to visit.
Yes it’s been raining here, no snow. The snow/rain/leaves are courtesy of Nicolas Kuttler. He makes neat Wordpress plugin!
