I got these neat gloves from Agloves. These gloves allow users to effectively operate many touchscreen devices while staying warm. Before I had these gloves I was using my handknit fingerless gloves while using touchscreen device such as iPod or eReaders.

There are 3 varieties available and I chose the one made with eco-friendly bamboo yarn. 70% bamboo, 15% silver yarn, 11% spandex, 4% rubber thread. Both bamboo and silver are naturally antimicrobial.
From the company’s website:
“Agloves has developed a patent-pending technology that makes them work brilliantly on all touchscreen devices.
Unlike other gloves, Agloves harnesses the body’s natural bio-electricity from the surface of the entire hand by using silver - the most conductive element on the Periodic Table of the Elements.”
I can’t say that it’s warm or comfortable as regular winter gloves. As it does feel a little stiff and somewhat itchy. But it does the job well.
I also like that silver and bamboo fibers are antimicrobial so it helps protect me from dirt and germs. Especially if you want to use the ATM machine!
Prices start from $17.99 and the bamboo one retails at $23.99. Mine were offered for $15 by Groupon Goods but shipped by Agloves. Agloves offer 90 day test period too. So it’s worth a try.
Note: The brand tags are folded over to touch the skin inside and it was itchy. So I ended up removing it and it’s much more comfortable now.
If you are in northern California and like to map out homes with pretty Christmas lights, check out California Christmas Lights. This website is really neat, with multiple views of the decorated homes. And some even have videos too.
It’s been around since 1999 and have continue to grow. Here’s a few that I think are really festive and nice. Happy Holidays!

I love the balls on the tree. They remind me of fruits. What’s also neat is that lighting is entirely energy saving LED.

The closest thing to a Winter Wonderland. This year’s Christmas Light Show is benefiting Tracy Animal Rescue. Please help the four legged silent victims of the foreclosure crisis.

Lots of cute penguins. Notice Santa in the background? CCL writes, “The Donnellys have been decorating for 31 years. Main theme is Winter Wonderland. Many penguins and snowmen are home made by the wife and the husband pays the PGE bill.”

Alex Dourov noted that in 2011 they started with 487 homes, then dropped to 475 as a number of long time displayers did not plan to have lights this year due to deaths, illnesses or injuries. Of those 487 homes are about 125 he found as “potential” homes to list from various newspapers and other sources.
All photos from California Christmas Lights. Many thanks to Alex Dourov, the founder of California Christmas Lights for providing such a neat service to the community.
3 Flowers Blooming
And a Partridge in a Pear Tree.
So far three of the buds have opened up from the Paddle Plant. Maybe they will all open by Christmas day.

They look like peppers when closed and tulips when opened. The petals are thick and look almost fake, like wax flowers.Â

I’ve been busy knitting up hats for this holiday gift giving season. Plus a couple of scarves and cowls.

Some of the hats I’ve knitted with wool or wool blend yarns. I got the flower design chart from a Vogue knitting book on loan from the library. I forgot to make a copy before returning the book.
The other hat was decorated with bobbles. Bobbles make hat look like fun. A simple way to make bobbles is to watch this tutorial.

More fun bobbles in this little case I knitted for my sunglass. Using bamboo blend yarn. Even in winter the sun can be bright out in California.

I’m not sure what type of succulent this is, but probably from the Kalanchoe family. The leaves remind me of Jade plant, except these leaves are much bigger. These leaves are thick and juicy and it does look like a big paddle for playing Ping Pong. Therefore it could be a “Paddle Plant.”

I’ve had this plant for almost four years. And this winter it has these flower buds. They’ve look like this for a month now and have not opened up yet.
Possible it could be called “Desert Cabbage, Paddle Plant, Flapjack Plant, Ice Sculpture, Kalanchoe thyrsiflora or Kalanchoe luciae.”
Once in a while I’ll use Bing for internet searches. Actually I go there just to look at the nice photo of the day. And also like the info that goes along with them too. Today I went there and saw “The Plain of Jars” from Laos. Click here for large photo. Very neat!

Photo from Bing. These jars are located within Xieng Khouang provence. Each site has 1 to 400 stone jars. The stone jars stand in height and diameter between 1 and 3 meters.
Back to Bing’s top search for 2011. “According to Bing searches, 2011 was the year of musical superstars, continued celebrity fascination, saving money, concern for human tragedy and new royalty.”
Others including Yahoo, AOL, and Ask.com also had their list. Their top 10 list also includes mostly celebrities. I personally am tired of hearing about them all the time. It’s as ridiculous as Barbara Walter’s special - where’s the real news? I have given up on watching the TV news and get my news online.
Interesting Search Data For the Year compiled by Bing:
* Most Searched Viral Video: 2011 was all about Friday — Rebecca Black’s Friday that is. As the most searched viral video on Bing, Rebecca Black’s video even beat MTV video music award winner Adele by 34 percent.
* Most Searched Celebrity Couple: When it comes to the most searched celebrity couple on Bing, there’s a tie between Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith and Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber tied. The royal couple came in third.
* Most Searched Economic Terms: With the economic difficulties we’re facing, it’s no wonder that bankruptcy and selling a home were among the top financial terms searched in 2011. Topping the list were searches for real estate agents, perhaps showing the difficulty and need in selling a home.
