My latest hair care review is made by Giovanni. It’s an invigorating shampoo and conditioner made with tea tree oil and other great essential oils too. It’s called “Tea Tree Triple Treat” and it’s the perfect summer time shampoo.

Tea tree oil is known to be very good for treating troubled skin. In this case, it also helps deal with dry, patchy, or itchy scalp.  So it would make sense to add tea tree into a shampoo.

Tea tree oil on it’s own can smell really strong, but in combination with other essential oils, it’s much nicer. I’ve noticed it works well with such oils such as lemongrass or peppermint.

It was really the ingredients used in Giovanni’s that got my attention.  Such as organic eucalyptus, rosemary, peppermint, and other good essential oils.  It’s even got sea salt and trace minerals.

It’s also vegan (no animal by product), cruelty free (no animal was harmed to make this stuff), and sulfate free (no extra chemicals used to create lather).  It’s also made right here in the U.S.A.

My favorite part:

“Contains a blend of organic oils, ripe harvested from renewable plants at the peak of their freshness, cold pressed and refrigerated immediately to ensure maximum purity. Infuses each individual strand of hair with vitamins, nutrients and protein for strength and vitality.”

That is the way oils should be harvested! Including olive and coconut oil.

When I first used it, I noticed right away how it makes your scalp tingle long after you’re done washing it out.  It’s definitely an “invigorating and stimulating” shampoo. Almost makes you feel like you’ve just had a head massage! It’s the perfect shampoo after a long hot and humid day.

The conditioner is also made of many good ingredients and it does a great job of leaving my hair super soft and shiny.  This shampoo is definitely a keeper!

Directions:  Massage rich lather into wet hair. Leave foam on longer for increased invigoration. Rinse.

A partial list of the ingredients:

Aqua (Purified Water) With Certified Organic Tea Tree Oil, Certified Organic Peppermint Oil, Certified Organic Eucalyptus Oil, Certified Organic Rosemary Oil, Certified Organic Nettle (Urtica Dioica) Oil, Certified Organic Thyme Oil, Certified Organic Mallow (Malva Sylvestris), Certified Organic Horsetail (Equisetum Arvense) Oil, Olefin Sulfonate (Coconut Derived), Vitamin E, Trace Minerals, Sea Salt, Grapefruit Seed.

It’s nice to find a product that really works and not just make bogus claims.  I found my Giovanni’s at Target, but it’s also available at many health food store such as Whole Foods. Regular price is $8 for 8.5 fl oz.

I think I would love this, just the ingredients alone made me want to try, definitely have to check it out the next time I’m in Target. I’m currently using Suave Aloe Vera & ginseng and it’s nice also since I shampoo my hair twice a day.

  3. The Suave aloe vera & ginseng sounds good for the hair and scalp. No wonder you wash your hair so often. I will give it a try too.

The Giovanni is a bit more expensive, but I think it’s worth it. And I only wash my hair every other day, so it should last me a while. If I were to wash my hair as often as you, it would be so dry and frizzy! Sometimes I even use hand lotion to calm certain strands that are naturally wavy. :)

  5. Hi william,
That’s neat to know this shampoo works well on dreadlocks too. You should try handmade beer soap (can be used to wash hair too). It’s also sulfate free and has many good ingredients for your hair and scalp.

    Thanks for stopping by. :)
