Since blueberries are in season, I am only buying the fresh ones. They are so good, I don’t even bother eating them with anything else.

These blueberries are from British Columbia blueberries. I found them at our local supermarket. Very plump and tasty.
According to the BC Blueberry Council, British Columbia has close to 17,000 acres of rich fertile farmland ideal for growing blueberries. This makes British Columbia the largest producer of high bush blueberries in Canada and the second top producing region in the world.
Blueberries have gotten lots of attention since being named as one of “superfruits”. Blueberries can help slow down the aging process and reduce cell damage. They are also beneficial to your heart health and brain function.
Here is a list of studies on the benefits of blueberries:
According to a study in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry - wild blueberries are higher in antioxidants than it’s cultivated cousin.
1998 Rutgers University study found blueberries (like cranberries) help treat urinary tract infections.
I’m starting to think any fruit with the deep dark skin or color are all very for your health. Especially purple Acai, purple plums and purple grapes.

This blueberry is just a small shrub ideal for growing in Northern California. I got this for my mom’s garden in the spring. If you look very close, you can almost see one ripe tiny blueberry (in the center).

In a few years I hope the bush start producing fruits just like these!
During the winter months I ate mostly frozen blueberries (Trader Joe’s wild Boreal frozen blueberries). Those are not so great eaten alone, but better added to pancakes or muffins.
Maybe I should get creative and try whipping this cheesecake topped with blueberry sauce. Or the blueberry corn bread pudding recipe too. They all sound really good! Recipes from the BC Blueberry Council.

Mine are just little shrubs also, not even as big and healthy as your mom’s blueberry plant. I might have to move it to a different location in the Fall, Max would just have to give up part of his yard.
It would be nice to have big land so I can grow rows and rows, as for now it’s a good thing that it’s available at the market. I like eating it with ice cream. I did try the coffee ice cream float and really liked it.

Oh, I recognized the pattern in the first photo, a nice touch there.

Max may just love eating the blueberries too. I saw a nature show about bears and they were eating wild blueberries. They scooped them with their paws and seem to love them.
The coffee ice cream float is good - but really high calorie food. I got this new Mexican ice cream that’s really good, but the color was so freaky. I’ll have to share that story at Cambree Notes later.

You have good eyes. This fabric went nicely with the berries. It reminded me of a tree or shrub.
I am in a cleaning frenzy right now. And still wondering what I should do/make with all my cool fabrics. Once I have time, I hope to make the summer shirt with the neat pattern soon.
