I ran out of my usual night time face cream and decided to try Alba Botanica’s Jasmine & Vitamin E Moisture Cream.
I’ve used other Alba Botanica products before and am usually happy with the product. But my main dislike is the range of scent they use. Last time I bought the Sea Moss Moisturizer and never finished the bottle because I couldn’t stand the smell. And also the texture was too thick.
With this face cream, the texture is light to medium. And the smell of Jasmine is not too strong. It’s a great scent for the summertime and also brings me to Asia or some place tropical.
Jasmine extract ( it’s more of an absolutes) are mainly used to promote good sleep and feelings of happy well being. The small white flowers have an equally beautiful scent. There are many artificial version of this flower, but the extract is the best version to use in skincare.
Some of the signature ingredient of this face cream include Vitamin E (derived from wheat germ) and jasmine extracts. As well as gotu kola, vitamin, organic oils sweet almond, kukui nut oil, and carica papaya extracts.
The cream is suitable for all face type. And it absorbs really well into your skin without feeling too heavy or greasy. I think this cream will be good for my combination skin.
At one time I was tempted to purchase the Arabic Jasmine at our local nursery, but was afraid it wouldn’t grow so well in my hands.
Above is the photo of Arabic Jasmine, it has a really nice fragrant. The white flower is very small and this version looks like it’s the “double petals” variety. Jasmine green tea is another favorite use of this flower.

I use Clinic, it’s getting to be too pricey for me, and I recently ran out of my night cream. I saw Aveeno night cream but didn’t buy because I wasn’t sure if I’d like it. I think I might give this a try since I like Jasmine, the price is not bad.

I like the Arabic Jasmine but I think it’s tropical, my dad has one and he keeps it in the garage during the cold months. This would make a nice fragrant for night cream.

Hi Gina,
Wow I haven’t used any Clinic since the 90’s. I think department store cosmetics are way overpriced! And I don’t like shopping in that type of environment either. I prefer a free range to cosmetics rather then pushy sales people.
Back in 2003, a California lawsuit was filed against department stores and cosmetics manufacturers that “alleged the businesses conspired to keep prestige cosmetic prices high”. Then in January of 2009, consumers won the suit and were able to get 1 free product from the department stores.
Btw, I got my cream from Vitacost at around $11, plus $5 shipping. Not too bad if you order other vitamins too.

Hi Nye,
Have you seen any of the tiny white flowers from your dad’s plant yet? When I first saw them I thought “Jasmine Green tea” because I use to drink so much of that tea.
I think the jasmine fragrance for this night cream is perfect… a relaxing smell I prefer over Lavender.

He has 2 kinds, one with thin small petals of flower and the other one with layers of petals and they smell real nice. I might get a clipping of the layers of petals one because his is quiet big now, my oldest sister gave it to him a while back.

Cambree, thanks for the link. I need to see what else I can order with this, and will let you know how I like this.
I switched from Clinic to something else several times but have always come back. It’s getting kinda pricey, so it’s time to give Alba a try, thanks for posting this.

Wow that’s neat that your dad has a plant. It would be great to have the blooming flowers growing next to your bedroom window, solution to a relaxing night sleep.

There are just so many choices to chose these days. I do hope this works for you. I like the list of ingredients and also the reviews from other users were pretty good too.

I got my Alba yesterday and I like the feel of it but the fragrant is a bit strong for me, and might be that I’ve only used clinic and it doesn’t have much fragrant at all. But I like the smell of Jasmine and so far my skin is doing real good.

Hi Gina,
I thought the fragrant was too strong at first too, but after a couple of uses I got used to it. I think less fragrance is always better! Maybe something Alba should consider when making their products.
But I am glad your skin is liking it so far. I’ve managed to apply some of my neck too, and it goes on very easy.
